I don’t usually make a project page for such a simple build but
I had lots of photos. But it is PRSL! This is a Rex flat car significantly detailed by someone else.
It was an eBay buy as shown below maybe 10 years ago. This was a quick 4ish hour diversion project from all the big loco
projects I have been doing for the past year. Best of all it was zero dollars
- free to me - I had everything I needed. No decoders to buy! |

As bought from eBay
The
real PRSL 148 car was a PRR class FM but that is a P I T A to build urethane
kit in S. A real PRR FM is at left below. I have made exactly ONE urethane FM
in 35 years. The Rex car is diecast and heavy enough to run empty. It is close
enough to PRSL 148 for me.
I
just did some minor repairs - the brake wheel
and shaft was missing, and a very easy paint job. I used Scalecoat M O W
gray and Microscale black Roman alphabet decals.
The
weathering is a bit accidental. I did my unusual spray alcohol rusty dusting
but it did not dry and stick so I wiped most of it off. I like this better.
I
want this car for the Overland Burro crane whenever I can get that running
because of a cracked gear. See the 3rd prototype photo above. It is coupled to a PRSL Burro and cabin car.
Just the little PRSL M O W train I want to make.
